Course Outline for Microsoft PowerApps for web and mobile application development

This course is designed to enable you to develop web apps easily with a minimum of coding and using a complete browser based IDE. This course shall focus on Canvas Apps and the connections to external sources will be limited to SharePoint and non-premium data sources.

There shall also be coverage of mobile application development and distribution using Visual Studio App Center.

The course shall span over 3 days with the following specifications:

• No more than 8 participants in a single batch
• All participants meet the prerequisites
• Class begins at 9am and ends at 5pm with one hour’s lunch breaks and two 15 minute breaks in between (as per HRDCorp regulations).

Expected outcome:

Every learner has different learning patterns and absorption rates. As such, it is virtually impossible to gauge an exact learning outcome of each participant. However, it may be safely assumed that by the end of this course, each learner shall be able to:

• Know what Microsoft PowerApps is and where it is used
• How to create user interface elements using PowerApps
• How to add functionality to the apps that are built using PowerApps
• How to connect PowerApps to external sources (SharePoint, Excel and Automate Flows)
• How to secure Power Apps (without going deep into security)
• How to deploy Power Apps solutions (the new APK and IPA distribution with AppCenter will not be covered)
• How to work with Power Automate Environments
• How to customize SharePoint forms using Power Apps and adding additional functionalities to SharePoint forms
• Develop Web Apps
• Develop Mobile Apps
• Distribute Mobile Apps

Prerequisites:

It is expected that the pupil shall have the following at hand when participating in the course:

• Access to two screens
• Steady usage of a webcam
• Internet with at least 1 MBPS connection
• Access to MS Exchange Account
• Fluency in English
• Understanding of how to upload and download files
• Understanding of how the local file system works
• Experience in using SharePoint
