This focused two-day course will equip you to leverage Microsoft Power Automate as a strategic tool to automate workflows, integrate systems and embed automation into business solutions. Your instructor brings over 30 years of industry experience and will guide you through real-world scenarios, not just academic examples. We’ll cover the latest 2025 enhancements such as AI-assisted flow building, multimodal triggers, enterprise-grade governance and seamless integration with Microsoft Power Apps. By the end of the course you’ll be able to build, deploy and maintain automation that drives measurable value.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the automation ecosystem of Power Automate including cloud flows, desktop flows (RPA) and process mining.
• Design and build workflows triggered by business events, schedule tasks, and integrate multiple systems and services.
• Leverage the latest 2025 enhancements (AI-First flows, Copilot suggestions, process map diagnostics - provided license permits) to accelerate automation.
• Embed flows into Power Apps so that apps trigger automation and automation feeds data back to apps.

Prerequisites

Participants should have:

• A working familiarity with Microsoft Power Apps (canvas or model-driven) - the ability to build basic screens, controls and data integration in Power Apps.
• Basic understanding of business processes (e.g., approvals, notifications, data movement) and data structures.
• Access to a Power Platform environment with Power Automate and relevant connectors (Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Dataverse, etc.).
• A laptop ready to build flows and apps, and willingness to engage in hands-on exercises.

   1. Types of flows: Automated cloud flows, instant flows, scheduled flows, desktop flows (NOT a port of the curriculum)
   2. Architecture: connectors, gateways, environments, licensing implications
   3. 2025-era enhancements: AI-first automation, generative actions, process mining, self-healing flows.
   4. Business value scenarios: approvals, notifications, data sync, repetitive task elimination.
2. Triggers, Actions & Connectors
   1. How to select and configure triggers: when an item is created, when a button is pressed in Power Apps, scheduled runs
   2. Connectors library overview: Microsoft 365 services (Teams, Outlook, SharePoint), Dataverse, third-party services
   3. Building actions: data operations, control actions (apply to each, conditions), approvals, sending emails/Teams messages
   4. Best practices for reuse, naming conventions, versioning.
3. Flow Design, Logic & Error Handling
   1. Designing robust flows: branching, scopes, error handling, retries
   2. Using variables, composing JSON payloads, dynamic content, expressions
   3. Monitoring and diagnostics: run history, analytics, logs, process map insights.
   4. Performance and scalability considerations: limiting loops, managing large data sets, delegation issues.
4. Embedding Flows in Power Apps
   1. How to call a flow from Power Apps (button press, item update) and return results
   2. Passing data between app and flow: parameters, outputs, error feedback
   3. Use-case: user fills form in Power Apps → flow sends email and logs record → app presents status
   4. Best practices for triggered flows vs reactive flows in apps.
5. Governance, Deployment & ROI Measurement
   1. Environment strategy: development, test, production; solution packaging; ALM practices
   2. Security and compliance: data loss prevention (DLP), connection management, approvals.
   3. Measuring impact: using built-in metrics to quantify time and cost savings from automations.

6. Hands-On Workshop & Capstone Flow Project
   1. Scenario: You receive a business requirement (e.g., service request submission via Power Apps, auto-assigning, notifying team, logging to Dataverse)
   2. Phase 1: Design the flow architecture, define triggers/actions, map to app.
   3. Phase 2: Build and test the flow, integrate with an existing Power Apps front-end.
