JBoss EAP 8 Administration
Deployment, clustering, messaging and management practice
Why this course
A three-day administration course for participants with existing system-administration and Java enterprise-platform experience. Work through selected JBoss EAP8 setup, deployment, management, clustering, messaging and security tasks in an arranged lab.
This is an independent course, not a claim of RedHat official-course affiliation or certification preparation. Cloud, clustering and tuning examples are scoped demonstrations; results do not establish production resilience or comprehensive hardening.
Learning outcomes
- Install or inspect a prepared EAP8 environment and deploy a compatible application.
- Use the management CLI for selected lifecycle and configuration tasks.
- Explain introductory cluster, recovery and performance considerations.
- Configure and inspect a prepared Artemis messaging example.
- Apply selected authentication, authorisation and TLS management controls and document remaining operational gaps.
Prerequisites
- System-administration experience and JavaEE/JakartaEE platform concepts.
- Prior introductory JBoss administration or equivalent practical knowledge.
- Access to the arranged EAP8/JDK/licensed environment and compatible sample applications.
3 modules
01Day 1 — Environment, Deployment and Management1 topics
EAP8 Architecture and Setup
- EAP8 architecture and release-specific capabilities
- Installation and initial-configuration checks in the prepared lab
EAP8 targets JakartaEE10. Check javax-to-jakarta application compatibility and the supported JDK/OS matrix for the specific installation.
Application Deployment and Lifecycle
- Deploy a prepared application and compare production/cloud deployment considerations
- Application lifecycle management using JBoss EAP CLI
Use a prepared compatible application and a controlled lab, distinguishing a working deployment from a validated production rollout.
02Day 2 — Clustering and Messaging1 topics
Cluster Concepts and Performance
- Cluster setup, redundancy and failure scenarios in a prepared environment
- Selected monitoring and performance-tuning examples
Compare topology and recovery behaviour; measure a selected workload rather than assume improved throughput.
ActiveMQArtemis
- Setup, configure, and manage messaging systems
- Clustering, persistence, and performance optimization of ActiveMQ Artemis
Inspect a bounded messaging configuration, persistence and delivery conditions; cluster messaging choices depend on the availableEAP/broker setup.
03Day 3 — Automation, Security and Review1 topics
CLI Automation
- Selected managementCLI scripts and error handling
- Automating common administration tasks
Access and Management Security
- JakartaEE application authentication and authorisation
- Selected hardening, TLS and protected management-interface configuration
Distinguish application access from management access, use the arranged Elytron security configuration and validate TLS settings; selected controls are not a complete security audit.
Integrated Review
- Recap key topics, practical tips, and administrative best practices
- Discussion on real-world scenarios and common challenges
Record configuration changes, rollback considerations, unresolved issues and further monitoring/recovery tests.
