In just three immersive days, this course will equip you to design, build, and deploy business-ready applications using Microsoft Power Apps. Your instructor brings over 30 years of industry-heavy experience, presenting not an academic overview but real-world workflows, architecture choices, best practices, and business-driven outcomes. You’ll work with the latest features (2025-era capabilities such as AI-assistants, modern responsive design, offline support) and progress from requirement capture through prototyping to a capstone app you’ll deliver by the end of the third day. This is about building value, not just ticking boxes.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Translate business requirements into app specifications, data structures and user journeys.
• Connect to a variety of data sources (Microsoft Dataverse, SharePoint, SQL, Excel, cloud services) and prepare them for Power Apps.
• Build responsive canvas and model-driven apps using Power Apps, applying proper UX, controls, navigation and logic.
• Use the low-code language Power Fx to implement business rules, validations, and dynamic behaviour.
• Leverage new 2025 features of Power Apps including AI-assisted development, offline capability, modern controls and governance tools.
• Deploy, share, secure and manage Power Apps including access control, environment setup and performance monitoring.
• Build a complete app workflow from requirement to delivered solution (capstone) tailored to a business scenario.

Prerequisites

Participants should have:

• A basic familiarity with business processes (sales, operations, service) and data concepts (tables, fields, relationships).
• Experience using Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, Teams, SharePoint) will help but isn’t mandatory.
• A laptop with access to Power Apps environment (Power Apps Web) and necessary permissions to create apps and connect to data sources.
• Willingness to engage in hands-on work and a mindset oriented to building rather than purely listening.

1. Understanding the Power Apps ecosystem
   1. Overview of Power Apps types: canvas apps (primary focus), model-driven apps
   2. Understanding the underlying data platform: Dataverse, connectors, on-premises vs cloud
   3. New 2025-era enhancements: AI/agents in Power Apps, offline first, modern controls, improved sharing & governance
   4. Business-driven scenarios: where Power Apps adds value in operations, service, workflow automation
2. Requirements gathering & data design
   1. Capturing business requirements: user needs, process flows, data entities, user journeys
   2. Designing data tables: entities, relationships, field types, integrity
   3. Using Dataverse or alternative source: when and how
   4. Best practices for data modelling in low-code apps: performance, maintainability, scalability
3. Canvas App Development – Build UI & Navigation
   1. Creating a new canvas app: screens, navigation, layout, responsive design
   2. Using controls, galleries, forms, media and custom components
   3. Implementing navigation flows, screen transitions and user-experiences
   4. Customising styling, themes, accessibility, mobile vs tablet considerations
   5. Working with new features: responsive containers, modern templates, drag-drop controls
4. Implementing Logic with Power Fx & Data Integration
   1. Introduction to Power Fx: formula language, syntax, common functions
   2. Using formulas to validate data, manage user input, set dynamic behaviour
   3. Connecting to data sources and writing logic for create/read/update/delete operations
   4. Handling delegation, large data sets, performance considerations
   5. Integrating with flows and automation when needed
5. Model-Driven Apps & Advanced Features
   1. Overview of model-driven app architecture: when to use vs canvas apps
   2. Building forms, views, dashboards in model-driven context
   3. Leveraging 2025 features: AI-assist agents in model-driven apps, offline support in model apps (only if the client’s license permits)
   4. Creating reusable components, component libraries, advanced controls
6. Capstone Project – Build & Deliver an App
   1. Business scenario introduction: e.g., service request tracking, inventory check-in/out, field worker mobile app
   2. Phase 1: Define requirements and data model
   3. Phase 2: Build UI and logic (canvas or model-driven as appropriate)
   4. Phase 3: Integrate data, implement logic, test workflows
   5. Phase 4: Deploy, share, secure and present the app to a stakeholder viewpoint
   6. Peer review and instructor feedback: evaluate usability, logic, performance, business value
